| Schwerpunkte: | Dr. Jens Fleischer (Landesgesundheitsamt Baden-Württemberg, Ger-many) is Head of the Water Laboratory at the LGA, which is specialized for microbiological analyses in drinking-water, raw water, ground- and surface water and bathing water. In co-operation with 38 local public health offices the Department for Water Hygiene at the LGA performs microbiological analyses for all of Baden-Württemberg's more than 300 fresh water bathing sites, which have to be monitored according to the European Bathing Water Directive and is one of only few laboratories in Germany which is capable of isolating viruses from water. Cell culture detection methods as well as PCR protocols for enterovirus, adenovirus and rotavirus and, in addition, PCR protocols for norovirus and HAV are estab-lished.
