The Abfallwirtschaftsgesellschaft des Neckar-Odenwald-Kreises mbH (AWN) is one subsidiary company of Neckar-Odenwald district.

AWN was founded in 1992 and it is responsible for the waste management within the Neckar- Odenwald district. The registered capital of AWN is 1,2 million €. The business purpose of AWN is waste management as well as the production of energy. The extension of the business purpose is necessary because the AWN has been intensified in the field regenerative energy generation. At the end of the 1990s the Sansenhecken landfill has consequently been developed into a national centre for waste disposal. So far about 90 million Euros have been spent on the location by the co-operators. The innovative disposal technology (mechanical, thermal, biological) is present. Problem solutions from the ranges can be offered to refuse disposal, recycling, waste water, climatic protection and renewable energy. Additionally a network of capable enterprise is present.
