Investigations for determination of mineral contents in bio-waste and anaerobic digestion

For the design of digestion plants for the treatment of bio-waste and residual waste the influence of the processing by mineral compounds, especially by sand, and the amounts of mineral compounds often are underestimated.

As there were no analysis methods till now for the determination of the mineral compounds in bio-waste and residual waste. It was not possible to refer to a data base for digestion plants. In a research project a method for the determination of mineral compounds in waste has been developed in the years 2000 until 2002. The dependence of the mineral content in bio-waste of different parameters as geology, urbanisation, population influences and the seasons was worked out and first balances of mineral compounds and about retrieval rates in digestion plants have been explored.
