Regenerative Energie
A structure of the various Alternative Water Systems (AWS) technologies is given, and examples and experiences of AWS application is described.
AWS (Alternative Water Systems, SuSan (Sustainable Sanitation), Ecosan (Ecological Sanitation), DeSaR (Decentralised Sanitation & Reutilisation) etc. must be evaluated including potential savings or surplus costs in networks, threshold cost and avoided risks (because of lower fix costs). The water sector of today is dominated by two major trends: the concentration of utilities (market driven) and the decentralisation of facilities (technologically driven). AWS will play a growing role world-wide.
