Green Efficiency of Waste Treatment Machines

Whilst in the past investment costs in machinery took centre stage in the deliberations of Recycling plant operators, today operating costs in the form of energy, wear and personnel, and machine availability, are the focus of attention. Operating costs are infl uenced to a high degree by the process flows of material treatment, maintenance strategy and machinery technology deployed.

Aspart of the 'Green Efficiency†technology offensive, Komptech is working together with researchpartners on innovative approaches and machine technologies aimed at reducing energy consumptionas well as levels of waste gas and noise emissions. The paper sets out new approaches as wellas resultant improvement potential and cost reductions. The most important factors infl uencing the effi ciency of the treatment process:
• Analysis and optimisation of the process flow,
• Condition monitoring of machine parameters and
• Deployment of the most effi cient shredding and separation technology.
Based on operational experience, every plant operator is attempting to optimise Treatment costs on the basis of input parameters energy consumption, costs attributable to wear per hour /ton, throughput per hour, and service and maintenance costs. 'Out of the Box†deliberations onchanges in individual treatment steps and materials flows often come up too short despite offeringplenty of optimisation potential. For example, operational cost savings of 30% are possible with a two-stage shredding process compared to a single-stage process.

In the context of the European Climate Law (EU) 2021/1119), the Governance Regulation (EU) 2018/1999 and the Nature Restoration Regulation (EU) 2024/1991, the KAnG came into force on July 1, 2024.

Transformatives Klimarecht: Raum, Zeit, Gesellschaft

This article contends that climate law should be conceived as inherently transformative in a double sense. The law not only guides the necessary transformation of economy and society, but is itself undergoing transformation.
