A current operating treatment plant for electronic devices and waste electronic equipment was tested in terms of its optimization potential and expandability.
In order to be able to plan further treatment steps, a detailed analysis of the existing plant is necessary. In the course of a material flow analysis, a material balance and an energy balance (input/output balance) involving all significant material flows was conducted. It included a sorting analysis, a sampling and an evaluation as well as the presentation of the chemical analysis (e.g. research of heavy metals) using the material flow analysis software STAN.
The aim was to determine which parts of the recyclables in the waste electric equipment are actually recovered and which exploratory grade is reached. Additional research was also conducted to examine how many and what kind of hazardous substances had been extracted or, as the case may be, not extracted during the sorting process and what fraction of hazardous sub-stances, not extracted, can be detected.
It was also tested which disposal paths the recovered fractions actually take and whether it is reasonable to plan additional treatment steps.

© Lexxion Verlagsgesellschaft mbH (6/2025)
In the context of the European Climate Law (EU) 2021/1119), the Governance Regulation (EU) 2018/1999 and the Nature Restoration Regulation (EU) 2024/1991, the KAnG came into force on July 1, 2024.
Transformatives Klimarecht: Raum, Zeit, Gesellschaft

This article contends that climate law should be conceived as inherently transformative in a double sense. The law not only guides the necessary transformation of economy and society, but is itself undergoing transformation.
