Efficient Desulphurization of Biogas based on a newly developed technology

AD (anaerobic digestion) technology and biogas plants have been a great success in the near past and it will continue. This development is accompanied by an increasing relevance of the topic 'desulphurization".

Ongoing tightening of emission restrictions as well as increasing usage of sulphur containing input materials for AD plants raise the question on hydrogen sulfide (H2S) contents in the biogas. H2S and its combustion products are known for causing considerable operational problems. For this reason an efficient desulphurization is inevitable for modern biogas plants. The challenge here is to find the appropriate system considering the wide range of possible technologies. The following paper gives a brief overview of the most proven technologies and introduces the nearly waterfree SulphPur desulphurization newly developed by S&H.
